Cathedral Se is Lisbons oldest church. The erection of the holy building started in 1147, to celebrate the forced displacement of the Moors.
It was told that there was a mighty mosque on the same spot before.
The cathedral of Lisbon unifies two different architectural styles. One style is unemotional Romanesque, the other one noble Gothic.

The place of Cathedral Se seemed to be a very important one in the human history of Lisbon. In the garden of the church archaeologists found traces of Roman time from the 1st century.
There is also a museum directly next to the church about some religious treasures. The whole treasury of the Church is exhibited. Everything can be found in “Largo da Se”.
