Chiado ist just a short street in the city centre of Lisbon, but known as a very important one, and discribed by some travellers as the heart and soul of the Portuguese capital.
The street was and still is the meeting point and the main place of residence for most of Lisbons poets and literati. Portugals most popular writer Fernando Pessoa is poured in bronze there.

But there are also many other things which make this place to something special. There is the opera called “Sao Carlos”, and some old and traditional theatres. Chiado is also a noble shopping street with a vibrant life.
Chiado is not a street, but a neighborhood!
