Igreja e Mosteiro de Sao Vicente de Fora is a monastery in the city centre of Lisbon. It was King Phillip the 1st of Portugal who had the idea for such a building. The construction works started in 1582.

The result was a bright monastery in the style of the renaissance. The construction works took quite a long time. Igreja e Mosteiro de Sao Vicente de Fora was completely finished in the beginning of the 18th century.
The inside of the monastery delights by marble pompousness, and a chairs made of the finest tropical woods. The terrace of Igreja e Mosteiro de Sao Vicente de Fora offers a wonderful view over the city.
