The centre of Praca dos Restauradores is enriched by a 30 metres high obelisk. The monument should remember the independence of Portugal from Spain in 1640.
The tourist info terminal of the square, was the propaganda headquarters of dictator Salazar, who ruled Portugal from 1928 until 1968.
