Cemiterio dos Prazeres Lisbon

Category: Lisbon Places – admin – 11:56 am

The cemetery “Cemiterio dos Prazeres” means in English language “cemetery of pleasures”, and stretches over a large surface.

It was in 1833 when its opening took place. Many important historical peronalities found their last resting place in Cemiterio dos Prazeres. One of them is Alfredo Keil. He was the composer of the Portguese national anthem.

Some people even say that this kind of cemetery looks like a seperate city inside of Lisbon.
