Fado Lisbon

Fado bars and pubs are another attractive and traditional amusement to spend the night in Portugals capital. There are even so called “Fado restaurants”, but their prices are a bit higher compared to other restaurants in the same standard. Nevertheless Fado ist something very typical for Lisbon and the rest of Portugal, so if you want to experience something really original and traditional Portuguese, you should not hesitate to visit one of following places during your stay in Lisbon.

A Nini is a little Fado restaurant runned by a family. There is a Fado evening every Thursday. The rest of the week only opened at lunchtime. The cuisine is low priced and delicious. Rua D. Francisco Manuel de Melo 36-A.

The name tells it all: Clube de Fado in Rua de S. Joao da Prace 94 is Fado restaurant with great traditional cuisine and wonderful Fado singers.

Parreirinha de Alfama is one of Lisbons most popular Fado places. Many veteran stars of Fado are doing their performances. The operator of the Fado locality is a Fado singer herself. Beco de Espirito Santo 1, Largo Chafariz de Dentro.

Another Fado house with a Fado singer as operator is Senhor Vinho in Rua do Meio a Lapa 18. The place has a great renown, and is well respect in Lisbons Fado scene.

True Fado feeling is offered in Tasca do Chico. The small restaurant in Rua Diario de Noticias 39 is located in the centre of the district Bairro Alto. Connoisseurs claim that the native Fado experience Lisbons is only available here.
