Lapa is a noble district of Lisbon which is mostly populated by diplomats and politicans. Lapa is also an own municipality. Its official establishment took place in 1770.
Some people claim that Lapa is the most distinguished district of Lisbon. Huge city palaces and embassies characterizes the image of Lapa.

The most important sight is the church called “Basílica da Estrela”. A neo-classical building from the second half of the 18th century.
