Museu de Marinha looks like a model making museum, and is located in the district of Belem. The museum is full of artful boat models, and documents the history of boat building from the period of the ancient world until today. Actually Museu de Marinha is a museum of the seafaring, but the huge amount of boat models is amazing.

Boats were always a very important subject in Portugal. The old nation of sailors wanted to erect a memorial in the honor of the boat, and opened this museum.
There are also other interesting exhibits of Portugals history as a sailor nation. The visitor is able to find navigator maps, nautical equipment, and historical devices for boats, as well as log books and paintings.
