Category: Lisbon Museum – admin – 10:36 am

Tile painting is a very popular tradition in Portugal, and Museu Nacional do Azulejo the museum to it. The museum offers a large collection of painted tiles from Portugal, Netherlands, and Spain.

Museu Nacional do Azulejo also explains the history of this special kind of applied arts, and can be found in Convento da Madre de Deus, which was built on the beginning of the 16th century.

Even a cosy coffee house is included in the building, which offers a terrace in the inner courtyard. Quite a nice place during hot days in summer.
