Ponte 25 de Abril is an impressive bridge which was finished in 1966, in the same style of the Golden Gate bridge in San Francisco.
The bridge received its name according to the day of the “carnation revolution” in 1974. The 25th April was the day when the old regime had to put back its power.
Ponte 25 de Abril has five lanes, and a height of 70 metres over the river. Pedestrians are not allowed to enter the bridge.
